Summer 2025

By Ciarah.Kemp

A collection of all the fun activities we were up to this summer with my toddler!

3 ways to add a little spice to your toddler’s pool play! 💦☀️

As summer winds down, your little one might be getting a little meh about the same old pool toys. These 3 simple swaps have been a total hit for us — and as someone who basically lives outside by the pool and water table, trust me, they’ll extend your toddler’s playtime! 🙌

✨ Ball pit balls – Toss a bunch into the pool! My toddler loved when I scooped them up and dropped them on her, and she had a blast jumping in like it was her ball pit.
✨ Dive toys + a container – We found a set on sale at Target and she played with these the longest! Scooping up the coins and gems and putting them in and out of the container kept her busy for ages.
✨ Sponge balls – Soft, squishy, and SO fun to throw, squeeze, and splash with! My toddler loves when I squeeze water on her (perfect for naming body parts!). You can grab them at Target or DIY them with cut-up sponges.

Everything’s linked in my LTK if you want to snag them! 💛

Soaking up every last drop of summer magic? Try a themed water table! 💦✨
They’re such a fun and easy way to keep outdoor play exciting! Everything is linked in my LTK! 💖

We went with a space theme for our @TheStep2Company water table and it turned out so cute! I used the planet-themed reusable water balloons from @Hahaland , added our @Munchkin Inc. light-up space bath toys, tossed in some @Tub Works Shop indigo + violet bath fuzzies, scattered a few stars, and of course… the crazy astronaut fountain had to make an appearance 👩‍🚀🪐

Doing a theme is such a simple way to sprinkle in a little extra magic for your little one! ✨

Have you tried a themed water table yet? I’d love to hear your ideas!

By this point in the summer, I’ve got our toddler beach bag packing down to a science. 😎
We hit the pool, beach, or splash pad at least once a week, so I feel like a certified expert in the field. 😉

First up — the @BoggBags bag. It’s hands-down the best beach bag, and you can’t convince me otherwise. It fits everything, especially with the dividers, and when it gets sandy? Just rinse it out and it’s good as new. 🙌

How I keep it all organized:
🧳 I use zipper cubes to separate everything — it makes a huge difference!
One cube holds our @GATHRE changing pad, @Pampers diapers and wipes, swim diapers, and a change of clothes.
Another pouch is strictly for snacks (and yes, it’s always full). 😅 (our favorites; @Once Upon a Farm @Solely: Organic Fruit Snacks Amara @goldfishsmiles )
I also pack a sun hat and our @Bumkins wet/dry bag to toss in any wet clothes after we’re done.

☀️ Our favorite sunscreens (@Solar Buddies @-Badger @Hawaiian Tropic @BlueLizard Sunscreen Canada) in a little pouch (becauseits so nice to have it all in 1 place and don’t need to worry if it opens).
💁‍♀️ Then I pack a mom pouch — deodorant, tissues, Advil, gum, ponytail holder… all the little lifesavers.

🪣 For toys, we always bring:
	•	A @Hahaland sand bucket and shovel
	•	Water dripper cup
	•	Rubber ducks
	•	Reusable water balloons

🩹 I never forget a @KEEPGOING First Aid kit — because you just never know.

💧 Don’t forget water bottles (we love @Thermos US and @Owala), towels, and sometimes I throw a picnic blanket on top just in case.

As a chronic over-packer, you might not need all of this — but this setup works SO well for us.
Everything’s linked in my LTK if you want to peek! 💛

Toddler Water Table: Unicorn Theme 🦄✨

This @TheStep2Company water table came with the cutest unicorn toys, so a magical unicorn setup was a must! Here’s how I brought it to life:

🌈 Glitter Clouds
I mixed shaving cream with glitter to create fluffy, magical clouds for the unicorns to rest and play on!

🐋 Magic Whale Pond
Macy always loves a good water squirter, so I made the unicorns a sparkling whale pond! I added blue gemstones from Dollar Tree, blue and purple @glopals , water, and a sprinkle of pink edible glitter to give it that extra sparkle.

🫧 Unicorn Bubbles
I made bubble foam by mixing ½ cup of soap and 1 cup of water with an electric mixer. Then I split it into three bowls and added food coloring to make it fun and colorful!

So many textures, so much fun — and it kept her entertained for a while! Everything’s linked on my LTK if you are looking!

Thinking of doing a space or cars theme next — which one should we do??

Toddler Summer Activity: Feet Painting! 🎨👣

We’ve been loving outdoor toddler art activities lately, and this one is so easy to set up — and so much fun!

Just roll out some paper, squeeze on a few blobs of washable paint, and let your toddler create their masterpiece using their feet! 👣🎨

It’s an amazing sensory activity and you get the cutest little footprint art to save or display. 💛

Heads up: it gets messy (in the best way)! We did ours in the morning and then hopped right into the pool to rinse off and keep the fun going. 💦

It does get a little slippery, so make sure to stay close while they’re painting!

Toddler Activity: Feed the Shark 🦈 🐠✨

Apparently fish are food and not friends over here 😅 John made Macy the best cardboard shark for her to play with for shark week!

He used one of our endless cardboard boxes, cut out a shark shape, laminated a white sheet of paper, and added some sharp (but safe!) paper teeth. 🦷

I paired it with our @Hahaland fish toys, and Macy was so into it—kept her busy for a good chunk of time this the morning! You could totally make your own fish out of paper or cardboard, or even use ball pit balls for a quick and easy option.

Make it a game by asking your little one to feed the shark by color or count for an added learning twist! 🎣

We finished off with a few of our favorite shark-themed books—such a fun and easy way to celebrate Shark Week with toddlers! 💙🌊

3 Toddler Art Activities for Shark Week! 🦈🌊💙

It’s been a little while since we shared some art ideas, and these 3 shark-themed projects are so easy and fun—perfect for Shark Week but also simple to tweak for any holiday or season!

🦈☀️✨ Shark Sun Catchers
You’ll need contact paper, tissue paper, and cardstock. I cut a black cardstock circle to look like a porthole—like you’re peeking out of a submarine or cruise ship! We added shark silhouettes (I cut out 4, and Macy picked her 2 favorites), then tore up blue and white tissue paper squares to stick on. Lay everything on contact paper, seal it with another layer, and trim the edges. They look so cute in the window and are easier than they sound!

🦈🎨 Shark Stencil Painting
Cut out a shark silhouette, tape it onto a blank sheet of paper, and let your little one paint all over with blue and white washable paint. Once they’re done, peel the shark off to reveal a fun negative-space shark swimming in a colorful ocean!

🌊🦈 Folded Ocean + Sharks
Fold a piece of cardstock in half and drop some blue washable paint on one side. Fold it shut, smush the paint around, and then open it up to reveal the perfect ocean background! Add glitter (my toddler’s favorite part!), cut-out sharks, & googly eyes to finish it off.

We loved how these turned out—and they’re toddler-friendly while also helping build creative and developmental skills! 🖌️💙

Let me know if you give any of them a try!

Toddler Water Table: Shark Week Theme! 🦈⛵️🌊

Happy Shark Week! To celebrate, I planned a few shark-themed toddler activities—and this was our very first themed water table setup. It was such a hit! 💙

Here’s how I put it together:
🍝 I cooked spaghetti noodles, tossed them in a zip-top bag with food coloring, and let them chill in the fridge. After rinsing off the extra dye, they had the perfect slippery texture for ocean sensory play!

🫧 For the foam, I made aquafaba:
– Liquid from a can of chickpeas
– A few drops of food coloring
– 1/4 tsp cream of tartar
I whipped it with an electric mixer until it turned into fluffy, ocean-blue foam!
Then I added in our @munchkin boats and shark bath toy! ⛵️🦈

In the middle section I added some aquarium plants and a water-activated swimming shark to complete the scene! 🪸

This was such a fun toddler play idea and Macy had so much fun with it!

✨ What water table theme should we try next?

Toddler Activity: Little People Ice Painting! 🌈👸🏼🧊

Did you know your Little People figurines make the best paintbrushes? 🎨 They’re just the right size for tiny hands—and make painting extra magical! ✨

I mixed some @Crayola washable paint with a bit of water, added in our favorite @Fisher-Price Princess Little People 👑, and froze them overnight ❄️. In the morning, we grabbed some paper and let the painting fun begin! 🖌️

Macy loved watching her little princesses skate across the paper as the ice melted ⛸️💧. She even painted her hands and made adorable handprints—her artwork turned out so sweet! 🖐🏼🖼️

This is such a fun sensory activity too—the icy cold feel, the melting water, and all the colorful streaks 🌬️🌈.

Heads up: Macy did try to eat one 😂 (it does look like a popsicle 🍭), but a quick redirection back to painting did the trick. ✅

Definitely add this one to your summer activity list! 🧊☀️💕
