Come with me in a tour of the Vatican ✝️

Tour notes:
This is my third visit to the Vatican but my first time having a guide. The Vatican is a country inside of Italy and spans tens of acres. If you can, I would recommend a winter visit (to Rome in general) because it is not air conditioned and it is boiling in the summer and there are so many visitors. The ideal scenario is you go on a slow, cool day with a wonderful guide and spend the whole day there and eat lunch on site. Flip for a handful of pics.

Date night in Rome 🍝
We went to Il Marchese for dinner - a restaurant known for high end carbonara. They were so kind to split several pastas for us so we can try more of the menu.

I wore a classic Roman look - all Italian designer features - Dolce Gabbana shorts and a Valentino bag. There are rock studs all of this city- it’s fun to see Valentinos inspiration.

FYI on Carbonara: Today’s classic Roman carbonara—with guanciale, eggs, pecorino, and pepper—was refined over the decades but traces back to that post-war era. It’s known to be an American favorite. Il Marchese makes a fantastic version of carbonara using top-tier ingredients.

BTW, be sure to save this post. We used Roman Roads Tours to drive us around the city on a golf cart for 3 hours and our guide, Vlad, was a total star. 100% use this company and ask for Vlad - your guide REALLY matters.
If you are looking at this post thinking that the pics are odd for a tour- I agree. I took a lot of these afterwards when we went walking around. I’ve been to Rome many times and just wanted to listen to Vlad and focus instead of document. I also just really like design details so this is what you get from me 😁

Travel note: This hotel sits on the highest point, just above the Spanish steps, and the rooms with a view really do enhance the trip pretty tremendously. This is our second time here and we really enjoy it.

We ate in the room with everyone at the top floor of the hotel. The Hassler sits at the highest point in the city and the 8th floor has 360 views of the city.

Snagged a new Loewe tote bag that has gorgeous brown tones and will be great for summer and also fall 😍

EU shopping tips:
- pay in local currency (exchange is usually better at your bank than at the store)
- ask for VAT receipt (must have this to get the tax back)
- get VAT refunded to you at the airport on your way home 👏🏻
I find that many prices are lower here to start with and you can get European designer products up to 40% less than in the US. 🏆
